Party Wall Agreements
A Party Wall Agreement (PWA) is a legal agreement between two property owners who share a common wall, often found in apartments, condominiums, office complexes, semi-detached houses, terraced houses, and other structures like floors between flats or garden boundary walls.
The main purpose of a PWA is to outline how repairs, maintenance, and changes to the wall will be handled and to establish the responsibilities and rights of both parties to anticipate and solve disputes regarding ownership, maintenance obligations, shared expenses, and rights to alter the wall.
We can assist clients in preparing party wall notices (notifications served to adjacent property owners when construction or renovation work may affect shared walls or boundaries) and address any concerns or disputes that may arise between the property owner and adjacent owners regarding the proposed works.
