Restaurant
Our
clients existing restaurant occupied a Listed Building, situated
within a Conservation Area and our brief required the ground floor
restaurant to be extended into the vacant space above, on the first
floor.
The
first floor already had planning consent for office use, so we
needed to submit a Change of Use planning application. We also had
to make sure the project adhered to the Disability Discrimination
Act (DDA) and satisfied Building Regulations.
Because
of the legislative restraints the design required lengthy
negotiations between the client, the design team and the Local
Authority Conservation Officers. The result was a commercial
success, finished to a high standard which enhanced the existing
building and remained faithful to the surrounding aesthetics.
